About

Momentum Aerial & Acrobatic Troupe

Momentum Aerial & Acrobatic Troupe is a vibrant contemporary company that thrives at the intersection of dance, theatre and the circus arts. Born of the desire to tell stories through acrobatic movement, Momentum was established in 2002 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where the company was the first of its kind. Under the artistic direction of Monica Goermann, senior aerial artist Liz Cooper, and theatre coach Loc Lu, the performers develop original creations, from short, poignant pieces to full-length productions. Their work seeks to inspire audiences to look at the world through a new lens and leave footprints beyond the stage.

Since its inception, the company has performed both locally and internationally, from the Winnipeg Fringe Festival to the largest international gymnastics festival in Europe. Most recently, Momentum has performed with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (WSO) and at the Children’s Hospital Fundraiser, the Ice Crystal Gala. In 2015, they represented Canada in the FIG Gala at the World Gymnaestrada in Helsinki, Finland. They are known for their original productions such as Causin’ a Commotion (2016), Ten Thousand Prayers (2016) and most recently, blink (2018) a show which explores the implications of climate change and the concept of home.
